Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester - 200 Years of the Bus - 1949 Crossley DD42 bus ride
My visit to the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester in Cheetham Hill to the '200 Years of the Bus' event on Saturday 20th April 2024. In 1824, Salford toll keeper John Greenwood started a horse bus service between Pendleton and Manchester, five years before anything similar happened in London. This event saw heritages buses running throughout the day between the museum and Salford Art Gallery retracing the original route 200 years ago. This first event celebrates the period 1824-1940. Here is a snippet of my ride on Crossley DD42 built in 1949 for Manchester Corporation Transport. My thanks to everyone at the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester for putting on such a superb event.
