I Bought This Larch for £30… Now Let’s work on It!
In today’s video I’m finally getting to work on the Japanese Larch I picked up for £30 at the Penkridge Bonsai Fair. The plan for today is to check over the tree and make some small but important corrections. That includes bud removal, removing a few unwanted branches, and a light prune to help control growth and improve direction for the upcoming growing season. After that, it’s time to look at the roots. The tree came in a washing up bowl, so I want to get it into one of the mica pots I picked up at the fair. It also looks like this tree was field grown, which is great, but the heavy mud around the roots isn’t ideal. So I’m removing as much of that as possible and getting it into my own soil mix. This should really help the tree over the next couple of growing seasons by encouraging better root development and overall health. I hope you enjoy seeing the start of this tree’s journey with me. If you do, please leave a like and drop a comment — I always enjoy hearing what you all think. And don’t forget to subscribe to the channel to follow the progress of this Japanese Larch and the rest of the bonsai collection. Thanks for watching! 🌿
