I Was an Adventuress is a 1940 American comedy-crime drama directed by Gregory Ratoff. Plot: The story follows Countess Tanya Vronsky, a talented ballerina who pretends to be an aristocrat while working with two clever con artists, Andre Desormeaux and Polo. Together, they trick wealthy people into buying fake jewelry. Everything changes when Tanya meets the charming and wealthy Paul Vernay. She genuinely falls in love with him and decides to leave her criminal past behind. However, her former partners return and attempt to blackmail her into helping them carry out one final jewel robbery. Tanya must choose between her new life and the dangerous world she left behind.
