Jis lahore nai dekhya o jamyai nai || play by History Association, DAV College, Chandigarh

The Department of History, DAV College, Chandigarh staged the famous play ' Jis Lahore nai dekhya o jamyai nai' written by Prof Syed Asghar Wajahat.  The play was directed by Dr Suman Bharti, with Prof. Jyotirmaya Khatri, Dimple Chauhan teaming up with all other participants.The play revolves around  anguish and trauma faced by the thousands of displaced people at the time of partition in 1947. It is a poignant story of human relationships in an environment of hatred and distrust. An urdu speaking muslim family who migrated  from Lucknow to Lahore in 1947  finds a Hindu lady staying in a house alloted to them. Gradually the humanity, through its universal elements of love & affection wins over the demonic forces of mistrust and hostility against all odds.  The wonderful, impeccable performance of the students left a deep an indelible impact on the audience. The innovative use of  poetry, songs and Sufi music by our talented bunch of students in the background created a rich contemporary ambience and highlighted the shared culture of ethos and religiosity between the Hindus and Muslims before and after 1947.
