holding a baby bonobo orphan

While waiting to film in the nursery at Lola Ya Bonobo sanctuary near Kinshasa, D.R.C. Bombo a baby bonobo decides to jump onto me off of his care-taker mama's back. I hold him while he eats a banana, and he watches himself on my iphone while I videotape him. This contact was safe because I had undergone a quarantine period after arrival in the country and did not have viruses which could be passed on to him and potentially threaten his health. Visitors to the sanctuary do not normally handle the orphaned bonobos, only qualified staff.
