What we've brought here isn't a list of everything you need to buy, but rather a comprehensive list so you know what's available (from there, you can choose what to buy). If you're purchasing your layette in Brazil, we suggest buying items that will be used up to six months of age at most. If you're purchasing abroad, we suggest items that will be used up to one year of age (to make the most of your trip). Each family will have different needs. However, a suggestion is the following: for each type of item and size, buy six to eight items from that season and four items from the opposite season. 1) CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES: Short and long-sleeved bodysuits; Short and long jumpsuits, with or without feet; Baby rompers/culottes (underpants) with or without feet; Short and long-sleeved t-shirts; Dresses; Cardigans; Pants; Shorts; Pajamas; Maternity coveralls; Socks; Hat; Gloves; Hat; Bib; 2) FOOTWEAR: Booties; Sneakers; Sandals; IMPORTANT FOOTWEAR TIPS: It's not worth buying shoes for very young babies, who only wear socks at most. For babies up to three months old, choose basic, everyday clothes. Have three or four cute outfits for each age for going out or entertaining. Rompers are also great for sleeping. Therefore, there's no need to invest in pajamas during the first few months. 3) BREASTFEEDING AND FEEDING ITEMS: Container for storing breast milk; Plastic bag for freezing breast milk; Spill-proof cup with handle; Plate, cutlery, and plastic bib; AND BABY BOTTLES? We don't recommend purchasing any, as if you exclusively breastfeed until 6 months of age, you may not even use them. However, we think it's wise to have at least one bottle suitable for newborns in case of emergency. 4) BEDROOM - FURNITURE, DECORATION, AND ORGANIZATION ITEMS: Crib and mattress; Nursing chair; Changing table; Storage/drawer organizer; Cotton/linen blanket; Sleeping bag; Niches and shelves; Hygiene kit (thermos, water container, and cotton balls); Laundry basket; Nursing pillow; Mattress protector; Anti-reflux pillow; Mosquito net; 5) BATHROOM - ACCESSORIES AND HYGIENE ITEMS: Bathtub (inflatable option for traveling); Burp cloth/diaper; Manicure set; Gum massager and toothbrush; Bath thermometer; Diaper rash ointment; Wet wipes; Head-to-toe liquid soap; Hand sanitizer and liquid hand sanitizer (70%); 6) OTHER ITEMS: High chair/baby carrier; Baby monitor; Breast pump; Baby carrier or sling; 7) ITEMS I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING: Crib; Crib kit; Bottle warmer and wipes; 8) FOR MOM: Breast ointment (with lanolin); Absorbent (and gel) breast pad; Maternity lingerie; Postpartum lingerie; Breastfeeding-specific clothing; To receive notifications of new videos, turn on the notification alert (by clicking the bell).
