Dokumentarfilm fra 1998. Tidligere vist bl.a. på dansk TV (DR) og svensk TV. Det sagnomspundne Tunit-folk var oprindelig spredt over store dele af arktisk Canada. Tunit-folket dukker op i Grønland første gang omkring år 600 f.kr. og er især kendt for deres fine udskæringer af miniaturefigurer af mennesker og jagtdyr. Tunit-folket fortrænges, da de nuværende grønlænderes forfædre - Thulefolket - indvandrer omkring år 1200 e.Kr. Filmen følger arkæologernes arbejde i Hatherton Bugten nord for Thule i sommeren 1997. Filmen giver et indtryk af livsvilkårerne for Tunit-folket på nogle af jordens aller nordligeste bopladser. The legendary Tunit people were originally spread across large parts of Arctic Canada. The Tunit people first appeared in Greenland around 600 B.C. and are particularly known for their fine carvings of miniature figures of humans and hunting animals. The Tunit people were displaced when the ancestors of the current Greenlanders - the Thule people - migrated around 1200 A.D. The film follows the archaeologists' work in Hatherton Bay north of Thule during the summer of 1997. The film provides an impression of the living conditions of the Tunit people in some of the northernmost settlements on Earth. Script: Martin Appelt and Ole Malling.
