Grwyne Fawr Reservoir A remote and scenic reservoir located in the Black Mountains within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (formerly the Brecon Beacons) in south Wales. Completed in 1928, the reservoir was originally built to provide water to communities in Monmouthshire and has a capacity of around 400 million gallons. Surrounded by steep hills, moorland, and rugged landscapes, it is a popular destination for walkers, hikers, birdwatchers, and nature enthusiasts. The reservoir is reached by a picturesque trail following the Grwyne Fawr River, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and wildlife. Although it no longer serves as a drinking water supply, Grwyne Fawr Reservoir remains an important historical landmark and a beautiful example of Wales’s natural heritage.
