Building Tiny Tatooine! (1:72 Scale Lars Homestead/ Luke Skywalker’s Home Diorama)

This week, in my ongoing effort to become a better diorama builder, I decided to bite off almost too much to chew and build a 1:72 scale model of The Lars Homestead as seen in Episode IV: A New Hope! All of the files were found for free online and a few were tweaked and modified to fit my needs. In my opinion, the key to a realistic diorama is varied terrain textures and a keen understanding of how light and shadow play a role in the colors used. I struggled a bit in understanding the proper order of techniques to achieve my desired effects, but in the end, I think I got most of the way there and am happy with the results. This is only my second diorama to date so I can’t really complain! In this video we’ll go over: -building realistic Tatooine (desert) terrain -adding depth to your terrain through the use of various textures and paint layers -adding realistic weathering effects through the use of acrylic washes and pastel chalks -bringing life to your diorama with the use of real greenery Thanks for watching!
