Lionel Loueke, Bob Mintzer & WDR BIG BAND - Freedom Dance

The WDR BIG BAND plays together with Lionel Loueke (guitar, vocals) latter's composition "Freedom Dance" in an arrangement by chief conductor Bob Mintzer. Another solo is played by Bob Mintzer on tenor saxophone. Produced as part of the WDR JAZZCLUB concert "African Soul" at WDR Studios Bocklemünd / Cologne (December 2022). The internationally multi-award-winning guitarist Lionel Loueke comes from Benin in West Africa. His strongly rhythmically influenced music with its thoroughly independent sound can be heard on numerous albums, including on the renowned jazz label Blue Note. Loueke's bands regularly feature renowned soloists such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding.
