Dream skiing days in Pitztal: In freezing temperatures, we explore the panoramic slopes on the Hochzeiger and visit Austria's highest cable car station on the Pitztal Glacier. Shortly after, we are on the slopes and enjoy ski runs on the Hochzeiger with panoramic views down into the valley. Benni Raich learned to ski here. The former professional ski racer grew up in Pitztal. The next morning, we ski further into the snowy valley. It is still cloudy. As we exhale, clouds form in the air. Everything looks wintry and cold. Our destination is the Pitztal Glacier. The Glacier Express takes us up through the mountain to 2,840 meters. There, the skies slowly clear up. Just in time for the start of the day's skiing, the sun also appears and accompanies us on our skiing. We're practically alone, carving our turns on almost empty slopes. The highlight, however, awaits at the end. The Wildspitzbahn cable car takes us up to an altitude of 3,440 m to Austria's highest mountain station, the Hinterer Brunnenkogel. There, we not only marvel at the sensational view of the Wildspitze (3,786 m) and the panoramic view stretching all the way to the German and Italian Alps, but also enjoy homemade cakes at Café 3440. These treats sweeten our day and provide a perfect ending.
