Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Diesel Gala 2026 | Day 1 (Friday) | Heritage Diesel Action at Gotherington & Winchcombe | Rail125 Join Rail125 for another action-packed day from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway Diesel Gala 2026, filmed on Friday 24th July 2026 – the opening day of one of the UK’s premier heritage diesel events. This video was filmed at locations between Gotherington Station and Winchcombe Station, capturing the fantastic variety of diesel traction throughout the day. The footage covers train movements from the start of service through to the 15:30 arrival into Winchcombe, showcasing some of the best action from Day 1 of the gala. Across the weekend, the GWSR hosted an intensive timetable featuring home fleet favourites, visiting locomotives, double-headed workings, and a superb selection of classic British diesel traction. This video includes plenty of departures, arrivals, run-pasts and the unmistakable sounds of heritage diesel power against the stunning backdrop of the Cotswolds. The 2026 Diesel Gala featured an impressive line-up of locomotives, including visiting Class 27 No. 27056, Class 25 No. 25262, and Class 35 D7018, alongside members of the GWSR’s home fleet such as Class 20s, Class 24 No. 24081, Class 26 No. 26043, Class 37 No. 37215, Class 45 No. 45149, Class 47 No. 47376, and many more. A special highlight of the weekend was the Pathfinder Railtours Tribute on Sunday, celebrating more than 50 years of one of Britain’s best-loved railtour operators. Throughout the day, trains carried original Pathfinder headboards, while former Pathfinder founder Peter Watts and members of the team joined visitors for what was expected to be their final appearance at the railway. Alongside the busy train service, visitors could also enjoy: Trade stands and the Diesel Shed at Toddington. The Carriage & Wagon Works and Signal & Telegraph workshops at Winchcombe. Model railways and the Narrow Gauge Railway. The preserved cab section of BR Class 47 No. 47355. Refreshments and attractions at Gotherington, including the Wickham Trolley and traditional pump trolley.
