Raices Label - 1981 - RAC 04 Today, August 22, 1981 - INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORE DAY, we can say, here it is: “SANTIAGO, SONG AND ROOTS,” where the work of the different groups in our metropolitan region merges into one. This is a small sample of the contribution of those who rescue and promote our cultural heritage, who, with limited resources, also serve their country, and moreover, from the deepest wisdom and human feeling. Thus, today's publication includes, among others, the following performing groups: DUO TIERRA Y CANTO: formed by Olga Oyarzún and Laura Villarroel. They began their singing career as a continuation of their work with Margot Loyola's ensemble. ROBLES: A group of young people who discovered this path at the School of Engineering of the University of Chile through the Folklore workshops offered by this institution. VERDE VALLE: Tenacity, effort, and a quest embodied by an enthusiastic group of young people from the neighboring town of Peñaflor. ALHUE: Six members who for 10 years have been dedicated to recreating our traditional songs. Maruja Espinoza, from Germany, is also part of Alhue. PAILLAL: Gatherers of the lifeblood generated by the daily voice of folk art, those who sow the seeds of yesterday so that today may flourish. CALICANTO: Teachers who connect their work... Pedagogical, grounded in the knowledge of our people's roots. COYAHUE: Malaquías Concha neighborhood, La Granja commune. From there, under the guidance of Olga Abarca, they emerged in 1969; today their work continues to guide a new generation. MORALES BROTHERS: A family of cultivators of authentic folk songs, from Lolol. PALOMAR: A constant search, a projection forged from the deep sense of the people's truth. Margot Palacios Loyola: Palomar. ROOTS: Every tree has roots, every building has foundations. Foundation and roots generate life from the depths of the earth. CODELCO: Workers who, alongside their daily labor, contribute to the dissemination of our urban expressions. PARRALITOS: LOVE-CHILDREN following the path of our playful tomorrow, in the hope of a radiant dawn under the light of TODAY - EFFORT. QUILACOY A: Bearers and representatives of that working-class world that sings; also of those industries that have taken care to keep their expressions alive. Today it is an autonomous group. Well then, we invite you to drink from the inexhaustible wellspring of popular wisdom... METROPOLITAN BOARD
