Already provoking controversy Michela recounts her research and reassessment of Kagame's regime and the Rwandan Patriotic Front and explores the narratives that have been created about Rwanda after one of the deadliest genocides of the twentieth century. She explains the backstory of the murder of Patrick Karegeya, once Rwanda’s head of external intelligence and "a quicksilver operator of supple charm," to portray the nightmarish regime whose leader Paul Kagame, is blessed by Western governments even though he conducts repression at home, assassination abroad and loots the Congo even as it fans the flames of war.
