How Southend United Went From Wembley To Fighting For Survival

Times have fallen hard on Southend United in recent years. From securing League One promotion at Wembley in 2015 to now facing the prospect of dropping out of the English Football League for the first time in their 114 year history. Among their drastic dip in form has been other causes for concern as well. Constantly chased by the taxman, unpaid players, transfer embargos, and a torturously delayed move to a new stadium, the bad news seems endless. Many at Roots Hall now point the finger for this demise upon their long standing chairman, Ron Martin. Dear Chairman is the sum of these woes, encapsulated in a hand written letter to Ron by life long Shrimper, Kerry Fairless. This is the first release as part of a broader campaign we are working on with our friends at Goal Click documenting the precarious state that many Football League and non league clubs sadly currently find themselves in.
