Engineer Mountain Road To The Alpine Loop! Challenge Accepted!

This is the final episode of our San Juan Mountains Colorado adventure, and it's the most intense and rewarding drives of the entire trip. We begin the day on the legendary Million Dollar Highway, traveling North into Ouray, often called the "Switzerland of America". From there, we turn back and begin our climb up Engineer Mountain Road, one of the most iconic high mountain routes in the San Juan National Forest. The road quickly becomes rugged as we ascend higher into the mountains, navigating shelf roads, rocky terrain, and steep climbs on our way toward Engineer Pass. The views continue to expand with elevation, revealing the vast alpine landscape that makes this region so special. From there, we connect into the Alpine loop, one of Colorado's most famous off-road routes, before descending into the historic mining town of Silverton. After a long day of climbing, exploring, and taking in some of the most incredible scenery in Colorado, we wrap it up in Silverton at The Golden Block Brewery And Pizza Parlor with their delicious pizza and refreshing adult beverages.
