Neurodiversity includes all types of brains. Both neurotypical and neurodivergent, and understanding it can be life changing. For me, it explained so much of my life… from struggling in school, to masking in social situations, to sensory overwhelm and anxiety. In our house, neurodiversity isn’t just a concept. It’s our everyday life. I’m autistic and ADHD, my husband is ADHD, and our three kids are autistic as well as ADHD, OCD, Alexithymia and dyslexia). We even homeschooled them all the way through, because the traditional system just didn’t fit how their brains worked.
