12 Things NOT to Say to an Autistic Person

In this video, I’m sharing 12 things NOT to say to an autistic person, especially if they’ve trusted you enough to tell you they’re autistic. There are certain things autistic people hear all the time… and even when they’re meant well, they can feel dismissive, frustrating, or just completely invalidating. As someone who was diagnosed at 41, I know how powerful that moment of understanding can be…and how quickly it can be undone by the wrong response. We’ll also talk about what to say instead, because the goal isn’t to shame anyone, it’s to build better understanding, communication, and connection. If you’re autistic, I think you’ll recognize a lot of these. And if you’re not, this is a really good place to start learning. 💛 The most important thing? You don’t need the perfect words.
