Plein Air Silverpoint, "Tree of St. Sebastian"
This rather large metalpoint drawing is done on Italian gesso panel using silver, gold and copper point. It was done over several months in a location near my studio. The tree held captive seemingly pierced by the fence reminded me of St. Sebastion, whose lamentable end can be seen in art from earlier times. The struggle the tree has waged with the fence has left it twisted and scarred...and yet still thriving. You can see more of my silverpoints over at my website: @dalerobertsencaustic.com
