Kosovo War Day by Day (PART 2/4) | Frontline Footage Archive Documentary (1998–99)

In March 1998, war erupted in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo, as Serb forces clashed with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in a campaign to crush Albanian separatism. Serbia's counteroffensive saw widespread atrocities and the systematic ethnic cleansing of Kosovo's ethnic Albanian population, forcing hundreds of thousands to flee their homes and resulting in a humanitarian crisis. International diplomatic efforts failed to bring an end to the violence. In March 1999, NATO launched an aerial bombing campaign against Yugoslavia with the stated aim of stopping the ethnic cleansing of Kosovo’s Albanian population. Using archival news footage to document the conflict day by day, this video is the second in a series on the Kosovo War of 1998–99, from its outbreak in March 1998 to the arrival of NATO peacekeepers in June 1999.
