More info: https://www.ap-arts.be/guess-who Dance scholar and sociologist Dr. Annelies Van Assche’s will present her new book “Dancing Precarity” on the relationship between labor conditions and aesthetics in the European Contemporary Dance scenes of Brussels and Berlin. Her study reports the way the established contemporary dance sector in Europe operates and uncovers the sometimes contradicting mechanisms related to the precarious project-oriented labor and art market. The book engages with the relevant contemporary social issue of precarity and this within the much-at-risk professional group of contemporary dance artists. Although the research is initially set up in a specific geographical context and within a specific research population, the book offers insights into issues of precarity and unfairness that affect not only artists but our neoliberal society at large. https://www.palgrave.com/gp/book/9783...
