Scrapping British History - UK Has Preserved No Battleships or Aircraft Carriers

The United States has today 5 preserved aircraft carriers and 8 battleships open to the public as museum ships. Britain, despite having had a bigger fleet than the US until well into WW2, has no aircraft carriers or battleships preserved as museums. In this programme we look at why successive governments have failed to preserve important warships for the nation, and some of the sad stories of attempts by private trusts and groups to do this important work for them. We once ruled the waves, but you'd never know it now! Dr. Mark Felton FRHistS, FRSA, is a well-known British historian, the author of 22 non-fiction books, including bestsellers 'Zero Night' and 'Castle of the Eagles', both currently being developed into movies in Hollywood.
