After a decade of dreaming about the tiny life, the owner finally transitioned into this custom-built home by Seattle Tiny Homes. Located in the Tacoma area, this 204-square-foot residence proves that you do not need massive acreage to enjoy a high-quality, modern lifestyle. Tiny House Layout and Smart Design This tiny home measures 8.5 feet wide by 24 feet long and stands 13.5 feet high. Every inch of the floor plan is utilized to create a "sweet spot" between functionality and aesthetics. Living Room: A spacious, open-concept area designed for hosting up to eight people. By choosing a popup desk instead of extra cabinetry, the owner maximized floor space. Gourmet Tiny Kitchen: Features butcher block countertops, teal cabinets, a farmhouse sink, and a two-burner cooktop. A convection microwave and an apartment-sized fridge make full-meal prep easy. Multi-Functional Hallway: This area serves as a laundry room with a combination washer-dryer and a full-size closet for storage. Modern Bathroom: Built with SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels) for extreme energy efficiency and soundproofing. It includes a conventional flush toilet and a custom glass-tile shower. Sleeping Loft: A cozy loft with a queen-sized mattress and additional storage for linens and reference books. The Reality of Tiny House Costs and Parking Finding a place to park is often the biggest challenge for tiny house enthusiasts. This homeowner secured a driveway spot with full hookups (water, sewer, and 50-amp electric) in the South Sound area through a Facebook community. Monthly Expenses Breakdown: Mortgage & Lot Rent: $1,600 per month (includes all utilities). Propane: Approximately $30 every three months for the on-demand water heater. Total Savings: Significant compared to local apartment market rates in Washington. Technical Specifications Builder: Seattle Tiny Homes Construction: SIPs panels for superior insulation and moisture control. Heating/Cooling: Mini-split system with an exterior AC compressor. Exterior: Blue paint with white trim and lap panel cedar siding. Why Tiny Living? Beyond the financial benefits, living in a small space encourages an active lifestyle. While "cabin fever" can happen, it serves as a healthy prompt to get outdoors and enjoy nature. This home is a testament to the fact that with intentional design and a bit of purging, you can live large in a small footprint.
