Could Dunkleosteus Survive in Subnautica? Devonian ocean life is quite different from that of the alien ocean on Planet 4546B in Subnautica. The Devonian Period was home to the largest armored predator in Earth's history: a fish with bony plates and scissor-like jaws called Dunkleosteus. It dominated the ocean from 382 to 356 million years ago, and in its time, it was the planet's largest apex predator. Given its tremendous success on Earth, we must ask: could this iconic, plate-armored carnivore survive in the alien oceans of Subnautica? And if so, how would this prehistoric apex fit into the xenobiology of Planet 4546B? We'll cover how it adapts to its new home's environments, finds food to satisfy its hunger, and copes with the multitude of predators and competitors.
