LAUWERSOOG(veerhaven) naar EZUMAZIJL, eerste etappe van Friese Woudenpad (LAW1-1)

We have been here before at the Lauwersoog Ferry Port. Back then, it was at the end and start of stages of the Dutch Coastal Path. Now for a completely different path. Admittedly, we are walking a stretch along the Wadden Sea dike again (and even briefly across the exposed mudflats), but the path heads mainly inland. Around the Bantpolder towards Anjum, with its remarkable church building. At Oostmahorn, we catch a glimpse of the Lauwersmeer. After a stretch on the cycle path behind the dike, a fence comes into view with a sort of cube perched on top of the dike. That is, of course, an invitation to walk the rest of the stage on top of the dike, with respect for the many sheep, naturally. This brings us to the Ezumasluis, also known as Ezumazijl.
