It Wasn't Miss Lucy... 351P Had the New Calf

In this video at Pride Ranch, I head out to check the herd and discover a brand-new calf on the ground — and this time, it wasn’t Miss Lucy. It was 351P with the new baby calf. After finding the calf and giving the pair time to settle, I come back the next morning with my calf-catching setup to get the newborn processed. In this video, I show how I tag a newborn calf, record its weight using my TrueTest display, give Nasalgen 3 intranasal vaccine by Merck Animal Health, and collect a tissue sample for DNA testing with my Allflex TSU / tissue sampling unit DNA applicator. This is part of real spring calving season at Pride Ranch in Texas — finding newborn calves, identifying the dam, working calves safely, and documenting the cattle management tools I use on the ranch. In this video, you’ll see: • newborn calf discovery • cow and calf bonding • calf tagging • birth weight collection with the TrueTest scale display • Nasalgen 3 intranasal calf vaccine • DNA tissue sampling with the Allflex tissue collection applicator • day-one calf processing at Pride Ranch At Pride Ranch, I’m focused on raising Brangus and Angus cattle with an emphasis on maternal function, performance, traceability, and practical ranch management. Breed for Prime. Built for Texas.
