Elysium Willem de Haan (1849–1930) was a Dutch conductor and composer. After finishing his musical studies with Samuel de Lange, Willem Nicolai and Woldemar Bargiel, he became the director of the St Cecilia Society in Bingen am Rhein in 1873. He settled in Darmstadt in 1876 and held multiple posts there, until moving to Berlin in 1923 – though he had already largely withdrew from musical life since his retirement in 1914. He was noted for conducting several Wagner operas succesfully in Darmstadt in the 1880-90s. ZWEI SYMPHONISCHE SÄTZE This work was published in 1888 with versions for orchestra and piano 4-hands by Schott. It is dedicated to the Dutch Society for the Promotion of Music (Maatschappy tot Bevordering der Toonkunst in Nederland).
