How to Start a New Map & Peru Weapon Loadouts - Beginner's Guide #2
New maps in theHunter: Call of the Wild can feel overwhelming — especially for newer players. With Peru Intisuyu releasing next week, this Beginner’s Guide (#2 in the series) breaks down exactly how to approach a brand‑new reserve without stressing about trophies, missions, or Great One grinds. In Part 1, I walk through the 3 Phases of 'Starting a New Map' while exploring Askiy Ridge in Canada: Phase 1 — Rookie / “New Car Smell”: Enjoy the chaos, explore freely, discover species, missions, and zones. Phase 2 — Veteran / “Grab the Wheel”: Start organizing your hunt, unlock outposts, complete missions, and map out drink zones. Phase 3 — Master / “Grinding Mode”: Narrow your goals, set up Great One or targeted species grinds, and optimize your fast‑travel routes. In Part 2, we head to Parque Fernando to build my recommended weapon loadouts for Peru. With only one Class 7 species (Black Caiman) and everything else Class 6 or below, you can run a lightweight, efficient setup — plus a few optional weapons to cover the smaller species. Whether you’re brand new to CotW or just want a smarter way to tackle Intisuyu on day one, this guide will help you start strong, stay organized, and enjoy the entire discovery process.
