2.8 : Series and parallel connection of resistors

Welcome to Week 2 Lecture 8 of the course "Electronic Systems Thinking", taught by Profs. Sankaran Aniruddhan, Boby George, and Janakiraman Viraraghavan Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/es/course_pa... Video Overview Want to make circuit problems easier? In this lecture, we learn how to simplify resistor networks by calculating their equivalent resistance. Starting with Ohm’s Law and simple resistor combinations, we derive formulas for both series and parallel connections, then extend them to networks with any number of resistors. With this method, even complex circuits can be reduced step by step into something manageable. Finally, we apply these techniques to simplify the circuit introduced in the previous lecture, bridging theory with practice. About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
