3.1 : Dial, Talk and Hear
Welcome to Week 3 Lecture 1 of the course "Electronic Systems Thinking", taught by Profs. Sankaran Aniruddhan, Boby George, and Janakiraman Viraraghavan. Full Course: https://study.iitm.ac.in/es/course_pa... Video Overview In this lecture, we uncover the fundamental electrical operations behind making a phone call using a traditional landline phone. We dismantle the device to examine key components such as the microphone and the speaker, and explain how they convert sound waves into electrical signals and back into sound. We also look at how dialing numbers generates electrical signals and how the speaker translates current into audible sound. To conclude, we introduce the idea of time varying voltages and their connection to sound signals. About IIT Madras' online Bachelor of Science programme IIT Madras offers four-year BS programmes that aim to provide quality education to all, irrespective of age, educational background, or location. The BS programme has multiple levels, which provide flexibility to students to exit at any of these levels. Depending on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can receive a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education), Diploma(s) from IIT Madras, or BSc/BS Degrees from IIT Madras.
