Marias Pass - Blacktail horseshoe curve

We are at the horseshoe curve at Blacktail, on the west slope of the former Great Northern and BN (now BNSF) mainline along the southern border of Glacier National Park in the northwest corner of Montana, where where we catch a downgrade (westbound) stack train and the eastbound Amtrak Empire Builder grinding up the 1.8% grade. The Builder has a surprise ending, with 3 private cars tacked on the end today — an ex-Milwaukee Road Super Dome and sleeper, and the heavyweight observation car "Lamberts Point". The Milwaukee cars are owned by the group Friends of 261. Video shot July 5, 2013.
