TRONIK AVENTUR 393 RESTAURATION VIEILLE RADIO PARTIE 7
Link to the 8-episode series: • RESTAURATION VIEILLE RADIO PHILIPS 1956 WARNING: 1/ This series will involve live circuits and components, so be very careful. 2/ This series will recreate the reality of my attempt to restore an old tube radio, knowing that I knew almost nothing about it when I started. This particularity is not without consequences. That's why I want to point out right away that anyone who would like to draw inspiration from my series for a restoration should definitely not begin their restoration before having watched all the episodes in FULL and in order. Indeed, having wanted to film and broadcast my restoration rushes in real conditions and chronologically (with my questions, my hesitations, my trial and error, my struggles), they sometimes contain "bad practices," and it's often after the broadcast of an episode that I learned the real best practices and advice that I wasn't able to take into account in that episode? But in one of the following episodes. In short, I sometimes went through intermediate steps that weren't necessarily wise (e.g., supplying 110V), but in the end, I implemented the best practices (e.g., connecting a 60W light bulb in series). Some will say that it would have been wiser to broadcast a "pro" video directly with the best practices rather than my trial and error, my haphazard approximations, or even my mistakes, but I want to show beginners the real life of another beginner in this field. I find that, ultimately, this type of video can have two advantages: it's educational to see some mistakes that can be made and then corrected, and it's rather encouraging to see that even a novice like me can finally achieve something thanks to the great generosity of the community. So this series won't show how to professionally restore an old radio the first time, but it will show how I tried to restore an old radio without knowing much about it at first. And, above all, how the community helped me, especially Joël Mazellier, who over the phone oversaw the entire diagnostics, testing, and restart process. ************************** I'm trying to restore an old 1956 Philipps B3F60A radio, even though I know next to nothing about it, so I don't know what I'm getting myself into or how far I can go... In short, that's the Tronik Adventure. And a huge thank you to everyone who's helping me in this mess... uh, no, I mean this crazy adventure: Joël Mazellier, Valéry Marzlin, Adriana, and all the others!!
