After being closed for 5 years and 6 months due to damage from the September 19, 2017 earthquake, the Palace of Cortés in Cuernavaca, Morelos, has reopened to the public as the Regional Museum of the Peoples of Morelos. It features 5 permanent exhibition halls showcasing the natural and cultural heritage of the state of Morelos. Before the earthquake, it was also known as the Cuauhnáhuac Regional Museum. The mural by Mexican painter Diego Rivera, "History of the State of Morelos, Conquest and Revolution," has also been restored.
