Track 05 ended on the spoken seal of the oath under the dawn sun. Track 06 is the morning after that dawn and every hour after it, telescoped into one song — the column of wagons, the bowyers waxing cord into the night, the quartermasters tallying arrows, the women loading their husbands' and brothers' weapons because the men who would have carried them are not all alive anymore. The album moves from oath to operation. This is the album's cold track. Track 04 was its grief; Track 05 was its rage; here the queen has finished feeling and started counting. The verses are procedural inventories of an encampment at lamp-light; the chorus is the locked statement of what they are riding for — not for the honour, not for the song, but for a debt, a name, and a wineskin still empty of water. The bridge is the album's hinge: Tomyris alone for one minute with the empty leather in her hand, before the column turns south. The verses make one historical point literal: this is not a war fought only by men. The standard line in the Greek and Persian record is that the women of the Massagetae fought as well as the men, and steppe burials of armed women corroborate it.
