Campane a festa - Parrocchia San Michele Arcangelo - Arielli (CH) ABRUZZO - Ripresa con Drone
In this video I'm in Arielli, an Italian municipality in the province of Chieti in Abruzzo, located on a hill which, among vineyards and olive groves, dominates the source area of the river of the same name. In front of the Town Hall, in Piazza Crognali, stands the parish church of San Michele Arcangelo. It was solemnly dedicated by Mons. Enzio D'Antonio on 13 June 1992 but its origins are much older. The facade is divided into two levels by a string course frame. The central part of the main body is prominent; in it there is a portal surmounted by a lunette. Above the stringcourse there is a rectangular window surmounted first by a small cornice and then by a tympanum with a circular window inside. Two round arches descend from the tympanum towards the stringcourse of the two smaller bodies. To the left of the facade, a probable home or parish room, houses a clock and a wrought iron structure with 2 fixed bells for the sound of the beater (hours and quarters). The interior has three naves of which the more spacious central one ends with the apse while the smaller side naves act as altars and are connected by lowered arches. They house various statues including the Sacred Heart, Risen Jesus, Madonna of the Rosary, Madonna of Pompeii, Madonna Addolorata, Dead Christ, San Giuseppe, San Nicola, Sant'Antonio di Padova, Sant'Antonio abate, San Gabriele dell'Addolorata. The naves are divided by round arches and pillars underlined with orders of pilasters with Corinthian capitals. Of notable interest are the altar, the ambo, the baptistery and the carved stone pastoral seat. The wall of the counter-façade houses the pipe organ. The bell tower of the church, covered in exposed brick, has a square plan and develops on the right side of the church in a set back position. It hosts a concert of 3 bells of which the 2 large ones are electrified with a half swing and the smallest, probably due to an electrification error and its clapper, is electrified with a half swing. The latter, unlike the 2 large ones, has a very reduced resonance which is clearly perceived when played at plenum. In the video we see some ringing including the ringing and the ringing of the 2 major bells (the plenum was supposed to ring but the small one was out of order) documented on the occasion of the patronal feast of San Michele Arcangelo and the solemn angelus of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary . The weekday sound of this church is made up of the extension of the mizzen while the festive sound is made up of the extension of the large bell. The plenum is performed only as a Mass sign and for the Angelus of Solemnities.
