Old San Diego Traffic Lights In University City (Governor Dr & Greenwich Dr)

This video was filmed April 30, 2026. The traffic signals have been here for quite a few decades since the early 1980's I'm guessing based on the brand of the traffic signals that were installed and there aren't that many Durasig brand traffic signals in San Diego. The purpose of the traffic signals being installed at this intersection is the big business neighborhood to the left of here. It's several blocks and roads full of just business buildings over there and in the morning, a lot of traffic comes from here to turn left to that area and then in the afternoon, they come from there and head to the I-805 freeway behind me. The traffic signals haven't had many upgrades except for the red and green lights being changed to LED and newer pedestrian buttons, but most of the yellow lights still have incandescent bulbs in them and there are still a couple of very old neon hand/man pedestrian lights here that are very rarely used because there's really nothing to walk to around here. The 3M traffic light that's hanging on the mast arm has all LED bulbs in it in case you were wondering. Finally, I think the city thought decades ago that sometime in the future, this would become a 4 way intersection because the pole across the street with just the one traffic light and two pedestrian signals on it has holes on the middle of the pole as if a mast arm would be installed there and also facing the opposite direction, the mast arm facing the opposite direction of traffic is extra long just in case a left arrow signal might be installed there, but several decades later, this is still a 3-way intersection. Here are my videos of the rest of the signals at this intersection.    • Old Durasig Brand San Diego Traffic Lights...      • Old SD Traffic Signals In University City ...      • A Left Arrow SD Traffic Light & Very Old N...   TRAFFIC LIGHTS INFO: All 9 red lights and 9 green lights are LED The yellow lights have 2 LED's and 7 incandesents The pedestrian signals have 4 LED hand/man and 2 neon hand/man The signals are owned by the city of San Diego
