Italy, the country of the boot. A territory that develops, by its very nature, vertically. So, when you have to go from East to West, things are not as linear as you might expect. In this video we will try to take a trip, or rather, a coast to coast, from the Adriatic to the Tyrrhenian without seeing even the shadow of a state road or a highway. The goal is to try to travel as much as possible as the crow flies and therefore to take the shortest route possible, regardless of the type of road to be faced. To undertake a trip like this, which sounds like a real adventure, you need a very versatile car. For this reason we have chosen the new Suzuki Swift 4x4, offering it an extreme testing ground but, at the same time, ideal for understanding if it is truly a small-big total car, as it promises on paper. The new Suzuki Swift 4x4 presents itself as one of the few small cars on the market equipped, as an option, with four-wheel drive, a feature impossible to find in the B segment. The AllGrip system is designed to offer greater traction on low-grip surfaces, activating automatically when it detects loss of grip. The engine is the three-cylinder 1.2 DualJet mild hybrid, combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is not a particularly powerful solution (around 83 HP), but it is oriented towards reducing consumption and efficiency, rather than performance. The passenger compartment is simple and functional, with a technological equipment adequate for the category, especially with regard to driver assistance systems. Still too basic, however, is the multimedia system that, however, offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Swift 4x4 is aimed at an audience that lives in hilly or mountainous areas, or those looking for a compact with greater versatility in winter conditions, without resorting to the usual SUV. List prices start at 20,900 euros for the basic Waku version, while for a top 4x4 like the one on our trip, the official figure rises to 24,500. If you give up the four-wheel drive you save 2,000 euros and the automatic costs 1,500 euros even if, we remind you, it can only be had with the two-wheel drive version. Be careful, however, with the offers: at the moment, for example, there is a significant discount in the event of a trade-in or scrapping, of 4,000 euros, with the starting price dropping to an inviting 16,900 euros and the 4x4 costing just over 20,000. The advice is therefore always to go to the dealership to find out the real price.
