Operativo 'Pepe el vivo': conductores invaden estacionamientos para discapacitados en Jesús María

A team from El Dominical took to the streets as part of their "Pepe el vivo" campaign to expose drivers who park in spaces reserved for people with disabilities. This time, the tour took place in the Jesús María district, where it was confirmed that even parking attendants don't respect these reserved areas. "Put yourself in my shoes, not in my spot," is the slogan that summarizes the demand of people with disabilities to assert their rights. During the tour, one driver justified her infraction by claiming she has gallstones and that her abdomen swells, preventing her from walking. Another driver argued that she hadn't noticed the markings on the road. However, people who occupy these spaces must be registered with CONADIS (National Council for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities), and not every physical ailment justifies the use of these parking spaces. Fines and misuse of the CONADIS card Traffic Police officers arrived at the scene and issued L02 fines to the violators. The infraction carries a 20-point deduction on the driver's license. Within the first five days of the fine being issued, there is a discount of S/74; after five days, the fine exceeds S/200, as detailed by the police officer. During the intervention, a driver showed his son's Conadis card to avoid the penalty, but the minor was not in the vehicle. The officer indicated that this was a case of misuse of the document, as it is intended for people who are inside the vehicle. Aggression towards reporter In addition to encroaching on these spaces, some drivers reacted aggressively to the reporter's questions, and one of them attempted to leave the scene despite the police intervention.
