The Forecast Just Took A SERIOUS Turn

Tropical Storm Arthur may be post-tropical now, but its remnants are still bringing heavy rain, flash flooding concerns, and a small tornado threat to parts of the Southeast today. I’m also tracking a rapidly increasing severe weather threat across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and the Central Plains this weekend, where tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging winds could all become a concern. In today’s forecast, I’ll break down where Arthur’s leftover moisture is moving, who still needs to watch for flooding in the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Oklahoma, and why Saturday could bring a more organized severe weather setup across the Plains. We’ll also look ahead to Sunday as the severe threat may shift toward Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and the Ohio Valley. Beyond the storm threats, I’m tracking a major temperature split across the country, with cooler-than-average air spreading across the North while heat builds across the South and West. I’ll also show you the latest drought monitor, where rain may finally return in the long-range pattern, and what the next couple of weeks could mean for the drought-stricken parts of the East and West. And since it’s Volcano Friday, we’ll wrap things up with a quick look at space weather, sunspots, earthquakes, volcano alerts, and the moon phase. Stay weather aware, let me know where you’re watching from in the comments, and remember to stay sharp and chase hard.
