Yenice, a district at the foot of the Kazdağları Mountains Yenice, founded as a village in the 19th century by the Kızıl Keçeli groups of the Kınık tribe of Turks, is a district of Çanakkale. Until 1936, Yenice was a village bağlı to Gönen district of Balıkesir province, then it became a district and was attached to Çanakkale. Following the earthquake in 1953, the district center was moved to its current location. The average altitude of Yenice district is 275 meters above sea level. According to this year's assessment, the district population is around 30,000.
