We walk among walls that hold more than 400 years of history and visit Córdoba Cathedral, the oldest continuously operating church in the country. Inside, the vaulted ceilings, gleaming gold, and the blend of Renaissance, Colonial Baroque, and Neoclassical styles are impressive. 🎓 National University of Córdoba: The Oldest in the Country We continued with a tour of the National University of Córdoba, founded in 1613, the soul of the city and a benchmark for education in all of Argentina. We were given a chance to explore the Law School and appreciate its historic architecture and vibrant student atmosphere. ☕ Cafés, Patios, and Córdoba Life With the heat pressing, we stopped at La Compañía, a café with a shaded, flower-filled patio, perfect for recharging with a cool lemonade. Córdoba invites you to enjoy the outdoors in its historic patios and bars. 🌳 Plaza San Martín and the Historic Center We couldn't miss a stroll through Plaza San Martín, a green space and meeting point in the old town, surrounded by palm trees and rich in history. In its surroundings, colonial architecture blends with the city's dynamism. 🌊 Walk through La Cañada When the sun goes down, a walk through La Cañada is ideal: a stream that runs through the city, flanked by trees and narrow sidewalks. Tranquility and nature in the heart of the city. ⚱️ Jesuit Crypt: History Hidden Beneath the City We went down to the Jesuit crypt, accidentally rediscovered in 1989 during work on the telephone network. This space is surprising for its size and state of preservation. A place full of mystery and colonial legacy hidden underground. 🍽️ What to Eat in Córdoba: Locro, Lentils, and Lomitos (Sweet Loin) Cordoba's gastronomy surprised us: We tried the locro (a stew with corn, meat, and squash), A traditional lentil stew, And the lomitos (sweet loin) sandwich, enormous and packed with ingredients. Plus, the empanadas from Córdoba (especially the sweet and fried ones) take the prize. 🏛️ Museums and Tours: Cabildo, Religious Art, and Buen Pastor The Cabildo of Córdoba (17th century) is only accessible with a guided tour, but it's worth it to learn about its colonial history. We also visited the Museum of Religious Art with its courtyard filled with fruit trees and flowers, and the Paseo del Buen Pastor, a cultural center in Nueva Córdoba with exhibits and a converted old chapel. 🎵 Cultural Icons and Local Life In the heart of the neighborhood, Audrey introduced Samuel to two icons of cuarteto music: La Mona Jiménez and El Potro Rodrigo. Although we couldn't go inside the Capuchin Church, we enjoyed admiring its architecture from the outside. 🌲 Sarmiento Park and Bicentennial Promenade We walked through Sarmiento Park, the largest park in the city, and discovered the Bicentennial Promenade, with 200 colorful rings, each representing a year since the May Revolution.
