This is a fun practice of introducing classics to children; and delving into the swaras instead of just learning the song by tune. The essence is to cultivate the habit of decoding any song/tune in swaras; and identifying the ragas involved. This song; one of the classics; is a beautiful piece composed by Ilaiyaraaja garu and sung by dearest Balu sir. Also, I see the need of the next generations to listen to the good old classics. It used to be a normal thing before listening to the songs sung by Ammamma, Nannamma, thathas, family members casually and it would register without much effort. In these days, that listening has drastically reduced, leading to these gems being forgotten in the veil of time, and I see that as a worrying concern; because they would never get to listen to these treasures if we dont introduce to them in a way that's unique to each and every person..
