Sony SL-F30 Betamax - No picture no problem!?!?
I broke a head chip! Really quite a job getting to the bottom of a potential head-clog issue but it was just a really odd fault. This one is - getting to grips with the physical differences between Sony head disks, breaking a head chip off a potentially salvageable head disk and getting a slightly odd replacement. I have found out that the heads fitted were not original to the machine and judging by the corrosion on them they were not in great shape anyway (maybe trying to make myself feel better!). Let it be known it's the first head chip I've broken in over 300 machines I've repaired over the last few years since starting the channel - I must do better!
