Steak and Kidney “Garage Pie” Recipe | How to make homemade pies | South African petrol station pies

The much anticipated homemade steak & kidney "garage pie." This recipe has been perfected over the years to bring you something truly special and extremely delicious! Tender beef, beautiful lamb kidneys, a rich and flavorful gravy, and flaky pie crust. This pie is filled to the brim and brings back wonderful memories. Baie lekker! Recipe makes 6-8 large pies ∙ 2kg Beef stewing meat (bones removed) ∙ 400grams lamb kidneys ∙ 4 onions ∙ 1 cup Celery ∙ 250grams brown mushrooms ∙ Oil ∙ 1 beef stock cube ∙ Salt & pepper ∙ 2L water (a little more or less) ∙ ½ teaspoon fine cloves ∙ ½ teaspoon Allspice ∙ ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce ∙ ½ tablespoon dried thyme ∙ 1½ tablespoon fine coriander ∙ 1½ tablespoon onion powder ∙ 3 tablespoons flour (a little more or less) ∙ ½ cup water Pastries For the bottom of the pie, we used store-bought SHORTCRUST pastry For the top of the pie we used store-bought PUFF pastry You can find us here: Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/Wolkberg-Art...
