Surrounded Islands: "Pink Day Minus One"

1983: Prepping the Pink The work of surrounding eleven islands in Biscayne Bay with bright pink polypropylene fabric began on May 4, dubbed "P-Day," or "Pink Day" by Michael Putney, then a reporter for WTVJ. The day before that, "P-Day Minus One," Christo and his co-workers prepared. This clip includes WTVJ news reports by Putney and Nick Bogert, featuring interviews with contractor Augie Huber, Christo's wife and collaborator Jeanne-Claude, project volunteers, and observers. Note: Some of these clips show evidence of playback issues. This is a feature of the archival video sources from which the clips are derived.
