The Parur Violin Brothers, M.A. Sundareswaran and M.A. Krishnaswamy honor the family tradition, a long tradition. Their father, M.S. Anantharaman was a noted violinist and their grandfather was the legendary Parur Sundaram Iyer. He introduced the violin to Hindustani music in 1909. Clarity of the bowing and transparency of the raga character have been the hallmarks of the Parur school. To the music world, and the Carnatic music fraternity in particular, the name ‘Parur’ is tagged with the great violin bani (style).
