Omaha Beach Church - Dr Kloevekorn Nestled on the outskirts of Colleville-sur-Mer in Normandy, the Église Notre-Dame de Colleville-sur-Mer stands as a poignant witness to the fierce fighting of D-Day. During the Allied landings on 6 June 1944, much of the church's wartime damage was inflicted by American naval gunfire, which targeted its bell tower after German observers established an artillery observation post within it to direct fire onto Omaha Beach.
