Galveston's Darkest Night: The Last Survivor's family remembers the 1900 Storm
Lorraine Rey Isaacs Hofeller was only 4 years old when she and her family were bracing for the storm to hit Galveston Island on Sept. 8, 1900. Lorraine, a second-generation “BOI,” was considered to be the last survivor of the 1900 Storm when she died in 2002 at the age of 106. Houston resident Laurie Bricker, Lorraine’s granddaughter, shares Lorraine’s recollections of the storm.
