One of the bloodiest war in memory was WW1, a war that could have been avoided. A war where lessons from 1870 should have been heard and learned. Yet a war where millions died and fought desperate battles in Forts constructed 30 years earlier, desperately upgraded, and here we see the fortress patch works of the lessons forgotten between the wars, now desperately needed. Great commanders and heroes constructing their own bunkers, General Staffs on both sides making flawed plans yet pressing forward with millions of soldiers and shells, and on the line is Fort Douaumont. The premiere pride of France. Now it is in the way of the Kaisers ridiculed son and guarding it is the most unwanted French General.
