On Tuesday, when forecasts were already predicting bad news, Lieutenant General Javier Marcos of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) decided that all members of the 3rd Battalion of Betéra should report to their posts. As soon as they received authorization from the Valencian Community to act, they were deployed within 15 minutes. Despite the flooding, 100 members managed to reach Utiel and Requena. The Lieutenant General explains this as an example of the "impeccable reaction capacity of the Armed Forces."
